Rosalía Arteaga Serrano – Ecuadorian, the first woman to have held the positions of Constitutional President and Vice President of the Republic of Ecuador. Former Secretary General of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization, was also Deputy Minister of Culture and Minister of Education.
Lawyer, doctor of jurisprudence, she has a degree in journalism and MA in anthropology. She served until 2007 as a member of the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia Britannica, as well as director of Natura Regional Foundation. She was, until 2012, member of the Executive Council of Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE, according to its initials in Spanish) in Costa Rica.
Currently is member of the World Academy of Arts and Sciences, serves as member of the Board of the Library of Alexandria in Egypt, and recently became a member of honor of the Royal Academy of Doctors of Europe, as well as being named Latin Women of the Year 2015 by We Care for Humanity Organization-
Nowadays she is CEO of FIDAL Foundation and Executive President of A.S. Productions, President of Panamazonia in Manaus – Brazil and Senior Executive Education Advisor of the China U.S. Business Associate. Professor Honoris Causa of the University of Tarapoto – Perú and Honorary Doctor by International University of California.
She has published books of essays, poetic prose, poetry, and tales, children’s and adolescent literature.
Her poems and stories appear in anthologies circulating in Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain and Ecuador.
A very active woman, gives conferences, impulses education and preservation of our environment. Writes for newspapers and national and international magazines.
