Kiran Bir Sethi

Founder and Chairwoman of Design for Change Global.

Kiran Bir Sethi is a founder and director of the Riverside en Ahmedabad primary school in India. She also founded the ‘aProCh’ – an initiative to make our cities more kids-friedly, for what she was awarded by the Ashoka Fellow in 2008.

In 2009, she received the “Call to Conscience Award” form the King Centre in Stanford and funded ‘Design for Change’ (DFC) – the biggest change movement in the world, run for and by kids. Today, DFC can be found in more than 65 countries, influencing over 2.2 million of kids and over 65.000 educators.

Kiran and DFC were awarded with numerous prizes, including the prestigious INDEX – Design to Improve Life Award in 2011, Rockefeller Foundation Youth Innovation Award in 2012; Patricia Blunt Koldyke Fellowship from the Chicago Council on Global Affairs in 2013; Lego Foundation’s Reimagine Learning Challenge Champion in 2014; Top 10 Educators del Global Teacher Prize, Commonwealth Education Good Practice Award and Asia Game Changer in 2015; Excellence in Instructional Leadership Award and Ambassador of the Vital Voices, in 2017.

In 2017, during one of the events in which participated the Pope Francisco, DFC signed an collaboration agreement with the OIEC and Scholas Occurrentes to bring DFC to the catholic schools in the world.
