Andreas Schleicher, Director of Education and Skills at the OECD, and Fernando Reimers, Director of Harvard’s Global Education Innovation Initiative, reflect on the need for a global response to the pandemic crisis with regard to education. Andreas Schleicher argues that this crisis has shifted education from being isolated, both in schools and at the national level, to relying on educational collaboration between teachers, families, schools and nations, which he believes is essential to building a successful education system. Fernando Reimers points out that this is also true of the institutions. A collaboration and integration that he hopes will continue in the future, taking advantage of the collaborative possibilities that technology offers and that we have been able to exploit throughout the pandemic.
