Spain has a low proportion of youths enrolled in vocational training programs (12% of 15-19 year olds, compared to an OECD average of 25%) despite the fact that demand is clear: 40.3% of job offers in 2018 were aimed at profiles with Vocational Training qualifications. Likewise, by 2030, projections by the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training show that new jobs created in Spain will require 65% of professionals to have semi-skilled qualifications (Cedefop, EU, 2018).
So begins the report ‘The challenges for the future of Vocational Training in Spain’, prepared by COTEC, Fundación Dualiza Caixabank and Fundación Telefónica, which we are presenting today.
