Automation and digitalisation are changing the nature of work and the demand for workers and skills. Europe has a skills gap which, if left unaddressed, can damage social cohesion, undermine competitiveness and delay the dual transition. In 1983 the European Round Table was created based on European cooperation between industry, policy makers and all parties interested in strengthening Europe’s place in the world. It currently includes CEOs and chairmen and chairwomen of around 60 of Europe’s largest industrial and technology companies committed to creating a strong, open and competitive Europe through which to promote sustainable growth, jobs and prosperity for all.
